LANCASTER, Pa. – Taylor Bauman (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle), a junior on the McDaniel volleyball team, and Kristen Upton (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks South), a senior on the women's soccer team, were named the Centennial Conference (CC) Scholar-Athlete of the Year in their respective sports.
Bauman and Upton were two of 30 Green Terror spring student-athletes named to the CC Fall Academic Honor Roll.
Bauman, a biology major, posted a 4.0 cumulative grade-point average through the end of the spring semester. That was the highest GPA among juniors and seniors on the all-conference team.
Bauman was a second-team all-conference nod. She led the team with a program-record 580 digs this season. She also paced the team with 61 service aces. Bauman reached the 20-dig mark in 19 matches this year and the 30-dig mark in three matches.
Upton, an exercise chemistry major, posted a 3.92 cumulative grade-point average through the end of the spring semester.
Upton was a first-team all-conference nod. Starting all 20 games, she keyed a backline that posted a 1.06 goals-against average and eight shutouts. She also contributed two goals and an assist.
Women's soccer seniors Abby Keen (Salisbury, Md./Parkside) Katie Kirschenmann (Damascus, Md./Damascus) joined Bauman and Upton on the Academic All-Centennial team. Keen and Kirschenmann both earned second-team all-conference honors. The Academic All-Centennial team recognizes student-athletes who receive both all-conference and Academic Honor Roll honors.
The quartet was part of the 30 named to the Academic Honor Roll. To be nominated for the honor roll, a student-athlete must be of sophomore standing or higher and have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.40. The honored Green Terror student-athletes are:
