Conference spring academic honors announced

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Centennial Conference (CC) recently announced its academic honors for the spring sports season and 33 Green Terror athletes were named to the CC Spring Academic Honor Roll.

Women's golf junior Meg Schlesinger (Frederick, Md./Urbana), women's lacrosse senior Olivia Geiger (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) and softball sophomores Megan Coyle (Las Vegas, Nev./Bishop Gorman) and Cassie Rickrode (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) were named to the Academic All-Centennial team.

Schlesinger, Coyle and Rickrode earned first-team all-conference honors while Geiger was a second-team all-conference selection. The Academic All-Centennial team recognizes student-athletes who receive both all-conference and Academic Honor Roll honors.

The quartet was part of the 33 named to the Academic Honor Roll. To be nominated for the honor roll, a student-athlete must be of sophomore standing or higher and have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.40. The honored Green Terror student-athletes are:

Baseball

Sophomore Sam Brustad (Silver Spring, Md./St. John's College), sophomore Zachary Glover (Westminster, Md./Calvert Hall), sophomore Nathan Miller (Edinburg, Va./Stonewall Jackson), senior Douglas Mills (Timonium, Md./York Catholic [Pa.]) and junior Brad Thaxton (Stevensville, Md./DeMatha).

Men's Golf

Junior Matt Cramer (New Market, Md./Oakdale) and sophomore Kevin Keane (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman).

Women's Golf

Sophomore Meg Schlesinger (Frederick, Md./Urbana).

Men's Lacrosse

Senior Josh Hefta (Blacksburg, Va./Blacksburg), sophomore Jakob Katzen (Wilmington, Del./Wilmington Friends), sophomore Frankie Kratovil (Stevensville, Md./Kent Island), sophomore Devon Maranto (Dayton, Md./Loyola Blakefield), sophomore Andy Murphy (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) and junior Cole Ostendarp (Baltimore, Md./Eastern Tech).

Women's Lacrosse

Junior Morgan Collinson (Harwood, Md./Southern), senior Olivia Geiger (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge), junior Olivia Maenner (Towson, Md./Notre Dame Prep), sophomore Kelly Novak (Millington, N.J./Watchung Hills) and sophomore Alyssa Swartz (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern).

Softball

Sophomore Megan Coyle (Las Vegas, Nev./Bishop Gorman), sophomore Madisyn Johnson (Glen Rock, Pa./Dallastown Area), senior Valerie Lamb (Miami Gardens, Fla./Miramar), senior Alejandra Mata (Miramar, Fla./Cooper City), sophomore Cassie Rickrode (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) and sophomore Miranda Thompson (Columbia, Md./Atholton).

Men's Tennis

Sophomore Justin Arter (Waldorf, Md./North Point) and senior Will Giles (LaVale, Md./Bishop Walsh).

Women's Tennis

Sophomore Brenna Gutshall (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove Area) and senior Lindsay Russell (Leonia, N.J./Leonia).

Men's Outdoor Track and Field

Junior Gavin Gibson (Newark, Del./Sanford), senior Nevin Stambaugh (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key) and sophomore Caleb White (Glen Burnie, Md./Baltimore City College).

Women's Outdoor Track and Field

Senior Samantha Merkel (Baltimore, Md./Winters Mill).

In all, 659 student-athletes from the CC's 11 member institutions were named to the 2018 Spring Academic Honor Roll and 119 were tabbed Academic All-Centennial.
