Stillson enters his 11th year as the Director of Athletics Communication and Marketing at McDaniel.
Hired in July 2006, Stillson is responsible for all aspects of publicity and media relations for the Green Terror’s 24 varsity athletic teams.
Prior to his arrival on the Hill, Stillson served as the Interim Director of Sports Information for Division II Millersville in 2006. While there, he served as the main media contact for the department’s 21 varsity sports that included Division I wrestling.
No stranger to the Centennial Conference, Stillson began his post-graduate sports information work as an intern at Gettysburg from 2003-05, where he was the primary contact for 11 of the Bullets’ 24 varsity teams, including volleyball. In his second season working with that team, Gettysburg hosted the 2004 NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Regional, which Stillson coordinated all aspects of sports information for the three-day, six-team tournament.
At McDaniel, he has produced numerous publications that have been honored in CoSIDA’s annual publication contest, including best cover for the 2008-09 women’s basketball media guide.
Active in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Sports Information Directors Association (ECAC-SIDA), Stillson served as the Director of Online Services for the organization from 2008-11 before being elevated to the executive board as at-large representative. As part of his duties within his former position, he was responsible for maintaining and updating the organization’s website, ecacsida.org. He oversaw the movement of workshop evaluation forms and the Hometown Handbook into an exclusively digital format. He is also a part of the charities committee that runs a charity raffle at the annual workshop, where the organization consistently raises more than $2,000 in an hour to help charities in the local area of the workshop.
Stillson’s role on the ECAC-SIDA Executive Board was elevated prior to the 2013-14 academic year, moving into the presidential rotation as 2nd Vice President. He served as the organization’s President in 2015-16.
A 2003 graduate of SUNY Oneonta, Stillson graduated with a dual degree in English and Secondary Education. While at Oneonta, he got his start in the business, working closely with Sports Information Director Geoff Hassard, 2012-13 ECAC-SIDA President, in all aspects of the profession.
