McDaniel to host ECAC first-round game

WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel will host a 2012 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) South Region baseball championship tournament first-round game on Wednesday at Preston Field in Westminster, Md.

The second-seeded Green Terror (24-12) will take on seventh-seeded Penn State-Abington (23-19) at 3 p.m. The winner of that game will face the winner of another first-round game between No. 3 seed Penn State Behrend (26-15-1) and No. 6 Waynesburg (22-18). No. 4 Swarthmore (21-16) and No. 5 Marywood (22-18) play in the final first-round game on Wednesday and will take on top-seeded Wesley (30-14) in Saturday's other semifinal.

All first-round games are at the site of the higher seed.

Both semifinals and Sunday's championship game will take place at Wesley with game times still yet to be determined.

The Green Terror advanced to the Centennial Conference (CC) tournament for the first time since 2003, dropping a 6-2 decision to Johns Hopkins and a 6-0 decision to Washington (Md.) in the double-elimination tournament.

James Chiorello (East Windsor, N.J./Lawrenceville Prep) has led the CC's best pitching staff with a 2.36 ERA and 57 strikeouts in 72 1/3 innings pitched. He is also one of the team's top hitters with a 3.14 average and five home runs.

Patrick Christopher (Union Beach, N.J./St. John Vianney) has led the offense with a .368 batting average. He has a team-best 46 hits, including team highs in doubles (10) and triples (4).
