Christopher goes 4-for-4

LAKELAND, Fla. – Endicott scored six runs in the fifth inning to key an 8-5 victory over McDaniel at the 2013 RussMatt Central Florida Invitational in non-conference baseball action on Sunday.

Pat Christopher (Union Beach, N.J./St. John Vianney) led the Green Terror (7-3) with a 4-for-4 showing at the plate, adding an RBI and two runs scored.

Brett Holmgren and EJ Martinez each had two hits for the Gulls (1-0), who got three RBIs from Colin Sitarz.

Trailing 2-1, Endicott sent nine batters to the plate in the bottom of the fifth. Harry Oringer led off the frame with a single before an error put two runners on base.

A Sitarz double cleared the bases for a 3-2 lead.

With one out, Martinez traded places for a 4-2 advantage before back-to-back singles from Ralph Fidaleo and Robert Goldstick made it a 5-2 game.

A failed suicide squeeze resulted in the second out of the inning before a second error in the inning led to two more runs.

With one out in the sixth, Christopher rapped a single before Cameron Bahr (Southampton, N.J./Seneca) followed with a double to score Christopher. Bahr took third on a wild pitch before scoring on a Marshall Betts (Berlin, Md./Stephen Decatur) RBI groundout to close the deficit to 7-4.

A Joe Fiore (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Beach) single, wild pitch, balk and Chad Nazelrod (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) RBI single closed the gap to two in the seventh.

A Matthew Paola two-out double and error on a failed pickoff attempt set the final margin in the eighth.

Jonathan McKinney (Jonestown, Pa./Northern Lebanon) drew a one-out walk in the top of the first before scoring on a Christopher triple. Bahr followed with a sacrifice fly for a 2-0 lead.

An Oringer walk, pair of errors and Sitarz sacrifice fly cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the third.

McDaniel returns to action against No. 14 Ramapo on Monday. Game time is 12 p.m.
