Bahr records two hits, RBI
AUBURNDALE, Fla. – Rutgers-Camden built a 4-2 lead through four innings en route to a 5-3 victory over McDaniel at the 2013 RussMatt Central Florida Invitational in non-conference baseball action on Friday.
Cameron Bahr (Southampton, N.J./Seneca) and Andrew Hofmeister (Baltimore, Md./McDonogh) recorded two hits and an RBI to lead the Green Terror (9-6) in a game that featured 23 combined hits and 33 base runners but 19 runners left on base.
Adrian Gonzalez went 3-for-3 to pace the Raptors (9-6), who got a complete-game performance from pitcher Ryan Farabella.
Tied at 2-all, Shaune Collins reached on a one-out single in the fourth inning before scoring on a Donnie Haines triple to break the deadlock.
Joe Sigismondi followed with an RBI single of his own for a 4-2 advantage.
Walks from Luis Maldonado and Gonzalez around a pitching change to lead off the fifth inning put two runners on before a Connor Hall sacrifice bunt and George Spingler made it a 5-2 game.
Pat Christopher (Union Beach, N.J./St. John Vianney) walked to lead off the bottom of the seventh before an error and back-to-back fly balls allowed him to score to cut the lead to 5-3, setting the eventual final score.
An Albert Rivera single to lead off the game followed by a one-out walk to Gonzalez, wild pitch and Hall sacrifice fly staked Rutgers-Camden to a 1-0 lead.
A Sigismondi walk, stolen base and Nicco Esgro RBI single stretched the lead to 2-0 in the second.
Sean Sivo (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) and Christopher singled in the third before a Hofmeister single scored Sivo.
Bahr followed with a single to score Christopher and knot the game.
The Green Terror had an opportunity in the sixth inning but could not capitalize on a one-out, bases-loaded situation.
Christopher and Tyler Jackow (Colonia, N.J./Colonia) each added two hits.
McDaniel returns to action at Penn State-Mont Alto on Tuesday. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
