Sivo notches two hits

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Gallaudet scored three times in the bottom of the seventh inning to prove the difference in a 5-2 non-conference baseball victory over McDaniel on Thursday.

Sean Sivo (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) led the Green Terror (1-2) with two of the squad's six hits.

Danny O'Donnell went the distance for the Bison (2-3) on the hill, fanning three and allowing two unearned runs in the ninth.

Chris Guinn led off the bottom of the second with a double before taking third on a Justin Strong single and scoring on a Ian Evans RBI groundout.

An error and Casey Hicks stolen base coupled with a sacrifice bunt and Strong RBI groundout doubled the advantage in the home half of the sixth.

After Chaser Magsig singled with one out in the seventh, he stole second. A walk to Marcus Smith put runners at second and third before a failed pickoff attempt moved each runner up a base.

A JJ Klein sacrifice fly plated Magsig before an error and Hicks triple pushed the lead to 5-0.

Marshall Betts (Berlin, Md./Stephen Decatur) led off the top of the ninth with an infield single.

Two errors allowed Betts to score with one out before Troy Cavell (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) rached on an error to score Tom Gallo (Bernardsville, N.J./Bernards) from third to trim the deficit to 5-2 and bring the tying run to the plate.

An interference call and groundout ended the game, though.

The Green Terror returns to action at St. Mary's (Md.) on Saturday. The first game of the doubleheader begins at 12 p.m.
