AUBURNDALE, Fla. – McDaniel scored five runs in the fourth innings and four runs in the sixth to key an 11-7 win over Anderson (Ind.) at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational in baseball action on Wednesday.
Colin Franke (Highland Mills, N.Y./Cornwall Central) led the Green Terror (4-3) with three hits, two runs and an RBI.
Nick Butcher led the Ravens (7-8) with three hits.
A two-run Thomas Parker single staked Anderson to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second.
In the top of the fourth, two errors and five straight RBI singles from Zachary Glover (Westminster, Md./Calvert Hall), T.J. McGuire (Blue Point, N.Y./Bayport-Blue Point), Franke, Sam Brustad (Silver Spring, Md./St. John's College) and Brett Anderson (Wilmington, Del./Tower Hill) for a 5-3 lead.
The Ravens got an unearned run back in the bottom of the frame and then used doubles from Grant Thompson and Butcher to take a 6-5 lead in the fifth
Kasey Nelson (St. Pete's Beach, Fla./St. Michaels [Md.]) had a two-run single to key a four-run sixth inning. DJ Biscoe (Millersville, Md./Old Mill) and Antonio Rosanova (Laurel, Md./DeMatha) had back-to-back RBI knocks to scored make it a 7-6 game before the Nelson hit to center.
Nelson had another two-run single in the eighth to stretch the lead to 11-6 before Butcher singled and scored on a Jonathan Willoughby single to set the final margin in the bottom of the inning.
Anderson, Biscoe, Nelson, McGuire and Brustad all had two hits as part of a 16-hit outburst.
Brandon Richmond (Owings Mills, Md./Owings Mills) pitched 3 1/3 innings in relief for the win, striking out two.
McDaniel returns to action in a doubleheader against Becker on Thursday. The first game begins at 9 a.m.
