WESTMINSTER, Md. – Joe Rollins (Temple Hills, Md./Surrattsville), a senior on the McDaniel football team, was named to the Capital One Academic All-District II Division III football first team on Thursday.

Rollins earned his first nod to the team with a 3.35 GPA as of the end of the spring semester. Rollins was one of two running backs selected to the first team. The graphic design major now advances to the national ballot with all of the first-team selections from the eight districts for the Academic All-America team, which will be released on Dec. 3.

Rollins enters this week's game with 1,164 rushing yards to lead the Centennial Conference and rank 11th in Division III. He also has a conference-best 1,602 all-purpose yards, which ranks fourth in Division III. He has had six 100-yard rushing games this season, including a pair of eclipsing 200 yards three times.

A captain, Rollins also serves as a student visitor to the McDaniel Board of Trustees.

The members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) select the All-District team. District II consists of all of the Division III colleges and universities in Connecticut, Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Rhode Island, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.

To be nominated for the Capital One Academic All-America program presented by CoSIDA, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.3 or higher cumulative grade-point average and be a starter or significant reserve.
