Five earn All-CC football honors

LANCASTER, Pa. – Five members of the McDaniel football team have been named to the All-Centennial Conference (CC) team, released on Tuesday.

Jarius Ransom (Williamstown, N.J./Williamstown) was named to the first team while Joey Cornwell (Rockville, Md./Rockville), Nah'shon Godfrey (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore City College) and Jared Staub (Union Bridge, Md./Francis Scott Key) were named to the second team. Paul Flagg (Williamstown, N.J./Williamstown) was tabbed honorable mention.

Ransom, a junior linebacker, is making his first all-conference team appearance. Ransom led the defense with 92 tackles this season, including 48 solo stops. He reached double-digit tackles in six games. He added 2.5 sacks and 14.5 tackles for loss, which ranked third in the conference. He also had three pass breakups.

Cornwell, a senior punter, is making his second appearance on the all-conference team after being also tabbed second team as a junior. He punted the ball a conference-high 70 times for a 39.0-yard-per-punt average, which was tops in the CC among qualifying punters. He dropped 17 balls inside the 20 and forced 13 fair catches with just five touchbacks. He unfurled a program-record-tying 71-yard punt at Gettysburg.

Godfrey, a junior defensive back, is making his first all-conference team appearance. He finished third on the team with 61 tackles, including 47 solo stops. He broke up a team-best eight passes and had a 37-yard interception return for a touchdown at Muhlenberg. He also had a sack and 6.0 tackles for loss.

Staub, a senior offensive lineman, is making his second-straight second-team All-CC appearance. A captain, Staub anchored the line from his left tackle position. He was a key member of a line that helped the Green Terror rush for 135.0 yards per game and allowed 27 sacks.

Flagg, a senior offensive lineman, makes his first appearance on the All-CC team. A captain, Flagg was a key cog in the line at left guard. The line helped the Green Terror rush for 135.0 yards per game and allowed 27 sacks.

The Green Terror finished the season with a record of 3-7 (2-7 CC).
