No. 9 Salisbury blanks McDaniel

SALISBURY, Md. – Beverly Beladino scored 2 minutes, 51 seconds into the game to lead ninth-ranked Salisbury to a 2-0 victory over McDaniel in non-conference field hockey action on Tuesday.

            The Sea Gulls (9-2) outshot the Green Terror (6-6) by a 23-1 margin and held a decided 14-1 edge in penalty corners.
            Erika Wawzyanick (Wantage, N.J./High Point Regional) made 10 saves in goal for McDaniel while Kristin Mele (Ellicott City, Md./River Hill) recorded the lone shot.
            Beladino knocked home a Courtney Webster shot-and-save to stake Salisbury to an early 1-0 lead.
            Wawzyanick and the Green Terror defense held the Sea Gulls off the board until Lauren Correll knocked in the rebound off a Beladino shot at the 51:17 mark.
            McDaniel returns to action at home against Muhlenberg on Friday. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
