WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel had the final say in a back-and-forth affair but needed more than 86 minutes to settle a 4-3 win over Randolph-Macon in non-conference field hockey action on Saturday.
Julie Little (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) bookended the season opener with goals for the Green Terror (1-0), who got a goal and three assists from Lara Haab (Gladwyne, Pa./Country Day School of Sacred Heart).
Catherine Pricone led the Yellow Jackets (1-1) with two goals.
After Olivia Newman rocketed home a shot from the top of the arc on a penalty corner to tie the game for the third time in the 65th minute, neither team could find the backboard in the first 15-minute extra session.
Just 1:17 into the second overtime, Haab drew the keeper out while Little kept streaking down the left side. Haab played the ball to Little, who finished on a wide-open cage for the game-winner.
In the 15th minute, Haab crossed the ball in front of the cage to Little, who finished for a 1-0 lead.
On a corner two and a half minutes later, Lauren Seal passed the ball to Pricone, who finished to knot the game.
Haley VanNostrand (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) centered the ball from the right baseline to Haab for her first collegiate point and a 2-1 lead six minutes into the second half.
Ten minutes later, Pricone finished off a Rachel Gardner pass to even the game once again.
In the 59th minute, Haab shot from just outside the circle and Sarah Meszler (Herkimer, N.Y./Herkimer) got a stick on it for a 3-2 advantage.
Caila White (Delmar, Md./Delmar) made eight saves for McDaniel while Steph Talley had 10 at the other end.
The Green Terror finished with a 26-14 advantage in shots and 14-8 edge in penalty corners.
