WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel scored the final three goals of the game for a 6-3 victory over Swarthmore in Centennial Conference (CC) field hockey action on Saturday.
Gabrielle Yore (Olney, Md./Sherwood) scored four goals for the Green Terror (4-9, 3-3 CC) for the most goals in a single game since 2003.
Three different players scored for the Garnet (4-11, 0-7 CC), including Ursula Monaghan breaking up the shutout in the 21st minute.
Tied at 3-all, Yore created her own shot and scored with 1:02 to play in the first half to put McDaniel back in front by one at halftime.
Yore added her fourth of the game at the 52:28 mark before Megan Quattrone (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle Area) set the final margin nearly nine minutes later. She finished hight in the left corner of the goal.
Yore started her four-goal day, finishing a short pass by Haley VanNostrand (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) just a minute later.
Yore then dribbled down the left side of the field and shot from just inside the circle for a 3-0 lead at the 14:40 mark.
Monaghan got Swarthmore on the board at the 20:38 mark.
Jordyn Bell and Riya Garg scored just 1:49 apart to draw the visitors even with 2:28 to play in the opening half.
McDaniel finished with a 13-9 edge in shots while Swarthmore had the advantage in penalty corners, 14-4.
The Green Terror returns to action at Gettysburg on Tuesday. Game time is 4 p.m.
