LANCASTER, Pa. – Miguel Jones (Baltimore, Md./North County), a junior on the McDaniel men’s basketball team, has been named the Centennial Conference (CC) Player of the Week for the week ending Jan. 25.
Jones led the Green Terror (12-4, 7-2 CC) to a 1-1 week in conference play, averaging 21.5 points per game. He matched his career high with 22 points in a 65-49 victory over Johns Hopkins on Wednesday that helped his squad extend its winning streak to eight games, which matched the program record from the 1964-65 season.
On Saturday, he poured in 21 points, including 18 in the second half, but McDaniel had its streak snapped in the form of a 71-65 loss at No. 24 Franklin & Marshall.
For the week, Jones shot 63.6 percent from floor, hitting 14 of 22 shots. He was 57.1 percent from behind the arc, converting 8 of 14 attempts. He was also 7-for-8 from the charity stripe while dishing out four assists.
For the season, he leads the Green Terror in scoring (10.6 ppg) behind a team-best 23 treys. He has 31 assists and 21 steals.
McDaniel returns to action at home
against Gettysburg on Wednesday. Game time is 8 p.m.
