McDaniel to battle for CC title

Green Terror makes third men's basketball tournament appearance in four years

WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel will host Haverford in the first-round of the 2011 Centennial Conference (CC) men's basketball championship on Wednesday. Game time is 7:30 p.m.

The fourth-seeded Green Terror (13-12, 10-8 CC) faces the fifth-seeded Fords (13-11, 10-8 CC). The winner advances to Saturday's semifinals at top-seeded Franklin & Marshall (20-5, 15-3 CC) in the day's second semifinal.

The day's first semifinal pits second-seeded Dickinson (14-11, 12-6 CC) against third-seeded Gettysburg (14-11, 11-7 CC), slated to begin at 1 p.m. The day's second semifinal will begin at 3 p.m. or 30 minutes following the conclusion of game one.

The championship game will held on Sunday at 3 p.m.

Admission for all games is $5 for adults and $3 for students. Youths 12 and under as well as students from participating institutions, who present their ID, are free.

The tournament's champion will earn the CC's automatic bid to the 2011 NCAA Division III tournament, slated to begin on Thursday, Mar. 3. The NCAA field will be announced on Monday.

McDaniel is seeking its first CC championship and berth in the NCAA tournament.

Devon Lesniak (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) is the only player averaging double figures, averaging 14.5 points per game. He has a team-best 42 3-pointers to go with 48 assists.

Michael Jarboe (Monrovia, Md./Urbana) has a team-best 67 assists and ranks fourth on the team with 6.3 points per game.

Cullen Murray-Kemp (Trappe, Md./Easton) and Louis Sarris-Grau (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Lower Moreland) round out the team's top three scorers at 8.1 and 7.2 points per game, respectively.
