LANCASTER, Pa. – Andrew Merlo (Rehoboth, Del./Cape Henlopen), a sophomore on the McDaniel men's basketball team, has been named the Centennial Conference (CC) Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 7-13.
Merlo led the Green Terror (10-5, 4-4 CC) to a 3-0 week. The guard averaged 16.7 points per game, shooting 63.0 percent (17-for-27) from the floor, including hitting five of his seven 3-point attempts (71.4 percent). He was also 11-for-13 from the free-throw line (84.6 percent).
Merlo also handed out seven assists to go with three rebounds and three steals. After an eight-point performance against Penn State-Brandywine, he had 17 points and three assists at Haverford and 25 points and four assists against Ursinus.
For the season, Merlo is second on the team in scoring at 12.4 points per game and leads the squad with 40 assists.
McDaniel returns to action at home against Swarthmore on Wednesday. Game time is 7 p.m.
