LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall opened the second half on a 15-0 run to open up a 19-point margin and defeat McDaniel 70-47 in Centennial Conference (CC) men's basketball action on Saturday.

Austin Cannon (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley) led the Green Terror (9-10, 5-7 CC) with 14 points and seven rebounds.

Brandon Federici and Hunter Eggers combined for 46 points for the Diplomats (14-5, 8-4 CC), contributing 24 and 22 points, respectively.

Trailing 18-15, J.C. McGrath hit a pair of free throws with 6:24 to play in the first half to spark a 10-2 run that gave the hosts a five-point lead just 2:23 later.

Eggers hit a pair of 3-pointers during the run. A Federicci layup with 2:34 showing stretched the lead as large as 27-20 before a Cannon free throw and Nick Perugino (Lewes, Del./Salesianum) 3-pointer trimmed the margin to three in the final minute of the half.

Eggers, however, responded with a triple of his how before two Perugino free throws closed the deficit to 30-36 at the break.

Back-to-back Federici 3-pointers helped key the 15-0 start to the second half.

McDaniel closed the deficit to 46-30 on a Cannon putback with 12:20 showing but that's as close as the Green Terror could get. The Diplomats extended the lead to 20 for the first time on a Matthew Tate 3-pointer with 9:54 to play and the lead never dipped below that the rest of the way.

Franklin & Marshall jumped out to an 11-4 lead just 5:41 into the game.

A Cannon three-point play, however, sparked a 12-2 counter that gave McDaniel a 16-13 edge with 8:34 on the clock.

The Green Terror returns to action at Dickinson on Wednesday. Game time is 8 p.m.
