CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – Wilson built a 13-point first-half lead and staved off McDaniel rallies in the second half to notch a 71-66 non-conference men's basketball victory on Sunday.

Josh McWilliams (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) led the Green Terror (2-7) with 21 points.

Ian Frazier paced three players in double figures for the Phoenix (6-4) with 17 points. Keion Adams added 16 points and Willie McDowell chipped in 14.

Wilson jumped out to a 5-0 before back-to-back triples from Isaac Ray (Fredericksburg, Pa./Northern Lebanon) and McWilliams gave the visitors a 6-5 edge with 16:16 to play in the opening half.

Frazier drove the lane and then hit a 3-pointer from the left wing to put the hosts back in front 10-6 less than a minute later.

A McDowell steal-and-layup coupled with a Martez Beckett 3-pointer pushed the lead to nine and forced a timeout with 13:38 showing.

Six straight Green Terror points closed the deficit to 21-17 but a Adams 3-pointers sparked a 9-0 counter that pushed the lead to 13 with 4:33 to play in the opening half.

Sparked by a 3-pointer at the top of the arc as the shot clock was winding down, Austin Cannon (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley) put together a personal 7-0 run, closing the deficit to 30-24 and forcing a Phoenix timeout with 2:12 on the clock.

Trailing 35-28 at half, McDaniel tallied the first four points of the second half to close to within three.

After Wilson stretched the lead back out to six, a pair of DJ Harper (Glenn Dale, Md./Riverdale Baptist) layups made it a 39-37 game with 16:30 to play.

Four free throws extended the lead back to six before the Green Terror tallied six of the game's next seven points to close to within 44-43 with 12:25 remaining.

A McDowell three-point play out of a timeout halted the run and McDaniel would get no closer the rest of the way.

An Andy Kwiatkowski (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg) jumper made it a 51-49 game with 8:35 to play but five straight points from Adams pushed the lead back to seven.

Cannon and Harper chipped in 13 points apiece. Cannon also added four assists and six rebounds. Benjamin Young (Grasonville, Md./Kent Island) led the way on the glass with 10 rebounds.

McDaniel returns to action at Southern Virginia on Saturday, Dec. 30. Game time is 3 p.m.
