WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel canned a season high-tying 12 3-pointers in a 57-40 win over Mt. Aloysius in non-conference men's basketball action on Monday.
Andy Kwiatkowski (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg) led the Green Terror (4-13) with a season-best 18 points, hitting six 3-pointers. He also added five rebounds and three assists.
Julian Stover paced the Mounties (3-14 with 13 points.
DJ Harper (Glenn Dale, Md./Riverdale Baptist) converted a three-point play before Tommy Pisula responded with a pair of layups to give the visitors a 4-3 edge.
Kwiatkowski drained the first of his triples with 13:51 remaining in the opening half to spark a 9-2 run and give the hosts the lead for good.
Another Harper three-point play and Kwiatkowski long ball accounted for McDaniel's points in the 1-minute, 38-second span.
The lead swelled to 25-14 with 6:22 showing on triples from Stephen Lang (Gaithersburg, Md./Poolesville) and Kwiatkowski.
Treys from Stover and Trent McErlane trimmed the deficit to 28-23 but a third Harper three-point play stretched the lead back to eight at the break.
An Isaac Ray (Fredericksburg, Pa./Northern Lebanon) 3-pointer directly off an inbounds as the shot clock expired capped a 14-4 run that pushed the lead to 51-32 with 12:25 to play.
The offenses went cold for the next four-and-a-half minutes before another Ray triple stretched the lead to more than 20 for the first time and the Green Terror's largest of the game.
Harper finished with 16 points and six rebounds while Benjamin Young (Grasonville, Md./Kent County) led the way on the glass with seven rebounds. Austin Cannon (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley) dished out seven assists. Ray added nine points and three assists.
McDaniel returns to action at Johns Hopkins on Thursday. Game time is 8 p.m.
