Green Terror cards 316 in rain-shortened event
REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – Paul Kovalcheck (Fairless Hills, Pa./Truman) fired a 75 to finish 16th and lead McDaniel to a tie for eighth place at the Rehoboth Beach Fall Invitational hosted by Penn in men's golf action on Monday.
The Green Terror combined to shoot a round of 316 in the rain, which forced the cancellation of Monday's second round and shortened the event from a planned 36 holes to the 18 that were contested.
Maryland won the primarily Division I tournament with a score of 281 while the host Quakers (295) and Iona (299) were the only other teams to break 300 at Kings Creek Country Club.
McDaniel's round of 316 was the second-best among the four Division III teams. St. John Fisher carded a 304 to tie for fifth. Wesley was 10th (320) and Centennial Conference-foe Franklin & Marshall finished 12th (324) in the 13-team field.
The Green Terror returns to action at the Vulcan Invitational hosted by California (Pa.) on Sunday and Monday.
