Lillie shoots 148 to lead McDaniel to victory

ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. – James Lillie (Garret Park, Md./Walter Johnson) led McDaniel to victory at its own Mason-Dixon Collegiate Classic with an A-team low score of 148 in men's golf action on Saturday and Sunday.

In the final tournament of the fall, the Green Terror's top five combined to fire a 36-hole total of 604 at The Bridges Golf Club, including shooting a tournament-low round of 298 on Saturday. Lillie placed fifth overall, securing the team title with a round of 75 on Sunday after posting a score of 73 in the opening round.

The B-team finished tied for fourth overall with a score of 623, shooting a round of 311 on Saturday and a round of 312 on Sunday. Mike Filler (Baltimore, Md./Open Bible Christian Academy) led all McDaniel golfers with a second-place finish, posting a score of 145 that included a tournament low-tying score of two-under par 70 on Sunday.

Centennial Conference-foes Gettysburg and Franklin & Marshall placed second and third, respectively. The Bullets careded a score of 612 (309-303) while the Diplomats posted a score of 613 (311-302).

Centenary's Steven Kluemper won the individual title with matching scores of 71 both days to finish three shots ahead of Filler with a 142.

Alex Kane (Danvers, Mass./Masconomet Regional) was sixth overall, posting a round of 149 for the A-team. He matched Lillie with a 73 on Saturday before carding a 76 on Sunday.

Brian Norwitz (Germantown, Md./Northwest) posted a round of 154 to finish 15th, including a round of 74 on the first day before finishing the tournament with a score of 80.

Steven Tanen (Laurel Hallow, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) finished 20th overall with a score of 156, including registering a score of 75 in round two. He posted a 71 on Saturday.

Cody Mewhirter (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) rounded out the A-team scores with a 162 (78-84) to finish 39th.

Mason Woolford finished 20th overall for the B-team with a score of 156, posting matching rounds of 78.

Kyle Chittim (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) was 22nd overall with a score of 157 that included a round of 77 on Saturday and a score of 80 on Sunday.

Andrew Gordon (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax) finished 51st with a score of 165 (81-84) while Colton Heisey was 62nd with a score of 173 (88-85).

McDaniel opens the spring schedule at the Myrtle Beach Shootout during spring break in March.
