GREENSBORO, N.C. – Two members of the McDaniel men's golf team have been named to the Division III PING all-region team, released by the Golf Coaches Association of America on Tuesday.
Alex Kane (Danvers, Mass./Masconomet Regional), a sophomore, made his first appearance on the All-Mid-Atlantic team while James Lillie (Garret Park, Md./Walter Johnson), a junior, earned his third straight regional honor.
Kane led the Green Terror this season with a 75.7 stroke average over his 22 rounds. He won the prestigious Hershey Cup on Apr. 6-7, leading the team to a 10-stroke victory. In that tournament, Kane fired a one-under par 70 on the second day after posting a score of 73 in the opening round to finish with a 36-hole total of 143 and win the event by six strokes. Kane finished in the top 10 in half of the 12 tournaments in which he played this season. His low round of the season came in the second round of the 54-hole Joe Agee Invitational in Williamsburg, Va., where he fired a 68.
Lillie posted a 76.4 stroke average over his 19 rounds this season. He finished in the top 10 in four of the 10 events in which he played this season and had one top-five showing.
The two were among 15 players honored in the Mid-Atlantic Region and one of 90 players recognized across the six regions. McDaniel was one of five Mid-Atlantic teams with multiple selections.
