Swarthmore gets defensive in 7-4 win over McDaniel

SWARTHMORE, Md. – Gavin Musynske recorded four goals to lead Swarthmore to a 7-4 victory over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) men’s lacrosse action on Saturday.

            The Garnet (4-4, 3-2 CC), who trailed 3-2 midway through the second quarter, outscored the Green Terror (7-3, 1-2 CC) by a 5-1 margin over the final 33:19 of the game.
            David DeSimone evened the game at 3-all with 3:19 remaining in the first half before Musynske tallied 1:04 into the third quarter and again with 25 seconds to play in the period to give the hosts a 5-3 lead with 15 minutes to play.
            Evan Young (Easton, Md./Broadneck) pulled McDaniel within 5-4 with 11:13 to play but Tyler Bradshaw and Musynske tallied 2 minutes, 47 seconds apart to set the final margin with 4:23 to play.
            Matthew Daley (Wilmington, Del./A.I. Dupont) staked the Green Terror to a 1-0 lead just 1:53 into the game before Musynske tied the game with 10:28 to play in the first quarter.
            Kyle Hadden (Moorestown, Md./Moorestown) re-established the one-goal lead for McDaniel in the final seven seconds of the period.
            Stelios Wilson evened the game with 8:42 showing in the second quarter before DJ Rickels (Forest Hill, Md./Boys Latin School of Maryland) once again gave the visitors the advantage 1 minute, 12 seconds later.
            McDaniel returns to action at No. 9 Gettysburg on Wednesday. Game time is 4 p.m.
