Five named to All-CC team
LANCASTER, Pa. – Five members of the McDaniel College men’s lacrosse team have been named to the 2009 All-Centennial Conference (CC) team on Tuesday.
Senior Mike Hatton (Corning, N.Y./Corning East)
earned first-team honors while senior Gibbs Preston
(Baltimore, Md./McDonogh) was named to the second team.
Seniors Jason Stealy (Culver, Ind./Culver Academy)
and Bill Warner (Yardley, Pa./LaSalle) as well as
sophomore Matt Mummert (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern)
earned honorable mention nods.
Hatton, a midfielder, finished second on the team and third in the
CC with 32 goals. He added 11 assists for 43 points, a total which
also ranked second on the team. He picked up 31 ground
balls
Preston, an attacker, led the team with 34 goals. He also led the
conference with 32 assists and 66 points. Among his 34 tallies were
four game-winning goals and seven man-up markers. He added 23
ground balls.
Stealy, a defender, keyed the defense with 27 ground balls and 11
caused turnovers.
Warner, a midfielder, ranked third on the team with 40 points. His
23 assists were second-best on the squad while his 17 goals ranked
fifth. He added 18 ground balls.
Mummert, a long-stick midfielder, led the team with 53 ground
balls. He also caused 10 turnovers and added an assist to the
offense.
The Green Terror (10-6, 4-4 CC) finished its season with a 9-8 loss
at No. 8 Haverford in the CC semifinals.
