Three earn All-CC men’s lacrosse honors

Rickels named to first team

LANCASTER, Pa. – Three members of the McDaniel men's lacrosse team have been named to the All-Centennial Conference (CC) team, released on Tuesday.

DJ Rickels (Forest Hill, Md./Boys Latin School of Maryland) was named to the first team while Gibbs Preston (Baltimore, Md./McDonogh) and Matt Mummert (Dillsburg, Md./Northern) were tabbed honorable mention.

Rickels, a sophomore attacker, led the Green Terror (7-8, 4-4 CC) into its second consecutive conference postseason. He led the team with 42 goals, pacing the CC with 2.80 goals per game. His 52 points was best on the team, averaging 3.47 per game – second-best in the conference. He earned back-to-back CC Offensive Player of the Week honors during a stretch in which he scored 22 goals in a five-game span.

Preston, a senior attacker, earned his second All-CC nod after a second-team selection in 2009. Preston ranked second on the team in goals (23) and points (49) while leading the way with 26 assists. His 1.73 helpers per game ranked second in the conference. He finished his career with 206 points on 101 goals and 105 assists – the fifth player in program history to finish his career with both 100 goals and 100 assists.

Mummert, a junior long-stick midfielder, earned his second straight honorable mention nod after leading the team with 17 caused turnovers and ranking second on the squad with 53 ground balls.
