Muhlenberg jumps out to 4-0 lead, downs McDaniel, 8-5

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Brent Siebold scored three goals to lead Muhlenberg to an 8-5 victory over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) men's lacrosse action on Saturday.

JS Duke (Fort Washington, Pa./Upper Dublin) netted his second two-goal game of the season to lead the Green Terror (5-7, 2-4 CC), who had its two-game winning streak snapped.

Five other players scored one goal apiece for the Mules (4-7, 2-4 CC), who scored the first four goals of the game en route to the three-goal victory.

After a scoreless first quarter, Clint Watkins broke the deadlock with an unassisted goal 19:06 into the contest.

Charlie Heim doubled the advantage 56 seconds later.

It remained a two-goal game until Jack Reilly and Siebold went back-to-back 1 minute, 24 seconds apart to make it a 4-0 lead with 55 seconds showing in the first half.

DJ Rickels (Forest Hill, Md./Boys Latin School of Maryland) hit Michael Young (Pylesville, Md./North Harford), who found the back of the net on McDaniel's 23rd shot of the first half to get the visitors on the board with 17 ticks remaining in the quarter.

Siebold pushed the lead back to four off a Reilly feed with 11:48 showing in the third quarter before Duke scored on the man-up with 8:44 on the clock.

Doug Rheiner momentarily stretched the lead back to four with an unassisted tally at the 6:58 mark of the period before Duke scored his second man-up tally of the day just 2:10 later.

Rickels capped a three-goal third quarter with 2:34 to play, closing the deficit to 6-4.

Siebold finished a solo run midway through the period and Chase Nadell sealed the victory with 1:22 showing.

Matt Dean (Glen Burnie, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) responded 11 seconds later but the Mules won the ensuing faceoff and ran out most of the clock to forge a tie in the conference standings and stay alive in the playoff race with two weeks to play.
