Rickels, Sicuranza earn All-American nods
BALTIMORE, Md. – DJ Rickels (Forest Hill, Md./Boys Latin School of Maryland) and Nick Sicuranza (Seven Valleys, Pa./Dallastown), seniors on the McDaniel men's lacrosse team, has been named honorable mention All-Americans by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA), released on Wednesday.
Rickels earned the accolades for the third straight season, becoming just the second Green Terror men's lacrosse player to be named a three-time All-American. Joe Ellis earned the honor in 2001, 2002 and 2003. For Sicuranza, it was his first nod.
An attacker, Rickels – a first-team All-Centennial Conference (CC) selection led McDaniel (11-7, 5-3 CC) in scoring with 40 goals. He was second on the team with 46 points. His 2.21 goals per game is fourth in the conference while his 2.86 points per contest ranks tied for fifth. Starting all 18 games, he finished second in the CC with 2.22 goals per game and sixth with 2.56 points per game.
He finished his career with 136 goals, which is eighth all-time.
Sicuranza, a defender, earned All-CC first-team selection this season. He led the team with 30 caused turnovers and added 37 ground balls, starting all 18 games.
