Bivons records six points

TOWSON, Md. – McDaniel built a 12-8 lead late in the third quarter before holding on for a 12-11 victory over Goucher in non-conference men's lacrosse action on Tuesday.

Pat Bivons (Cockeysville, Md./Loyola Blakefield) led the Green Terror (1-4) with six points on two goals and four assists. Skippy Clary (Baltimore, Md./Catonsville) added four goals and an assist in the squad's first victory of the season.

Steve Patterson paced the Gophers (1-4) with five goals while Dylan Zook added two goals and three assists.

After Dylan Luiza (Davidsonville, Md./South River) scored a man-down goal off a Bivons assist 39 seconds into the game, Patterson responded nearly six minutes later with a man-up tally to knot the game at 1-all.

Bivons scored an unassisted tally with 4:57 on the first-quarter clock to spark a 3-0 finish to the quarter.

With 2:37 showing, Bivons found Pat Woglom (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) before hitting Sean Brett (Hamilton, N.J./Notre Dame) 33 seconds later to have a hand in all four first-quarter tallies.

A Zook-to-Patterson man-up marker with 11:12 to play in the second quarter and a pair of Max Roach assists keyed a 3-0 counter to knot the game at 4-all with 7:27 showing.

Roach hit Zook with 8:17 to play and then found Sam Morgan 50 seconds later.

A Morgan goal sandwiched between tallies from Clary and Woglom made it a 6-5 game with 4:32 showing before Bryce Carson evented the game at intermission.

Patterson and Clary then spent the first 8:32 of the third quarter trading unassisted tallies.

Patterson gave Goucher a 7-6 lead with 13:44 showing before Clary responded 1:27 later.

Patterson put the Gophers back on top with 9:01 showing before Clary knotted the game 36 ticks later and then put McDaniel in front for good with 6:28 on the clock.

Man-up tallies from Bivons and Woglom 20 seconds apart stretched the lead to 11-8 before Matt Dupras (Hillsborough, N.J./Immaculata) made it a four-goal game with 37 seconds left.

A Patterson man-up goal closed the deficit to 12-9 with 11 seconds left in the quarter before Zook scored 46 seconds into the final period.

A Zachary Fratella unassisted goal set the final margin with 30 seconds left.

Goucher won the final faceoff and sent a shot wide with 22 ticks remaining but couldn't get a shot off after a timeout with 19 seconds on the clock.

Christian Dallmus (Acton, Mass./The Rivers School) made 13 saves for the Green Terror while Ryan Gillen (Merrick, N.Y./Calhoun) went 15-for-27 at the faceoff X with seven ground balls.

The Green Terror returns to action at home against Marywood on Saturday. Game time is 1 p.m.
