WESTMINSTER, Md. – Roanoke took a 5-1 lead after the first quarter en route to a 13-5 victory over McDaniel in non-conference men's lacrosse action on Saturday.
Timothy McNichol (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) led the Green Terror (5-3) with two goals on the afternoon.
Jason Sarro and Peter Lindley paced the Maroons (5-1) with three goals each.
IV Stucker staked Roanoke to a 1-0 lead just 2:06 into the game before Cameron Linsley and Brendan Devane each finished solo runs to make it a 3-0 game with 6:08 to play in the opening quarter.
Cooper Archambault (Wayland, Mass./Wayland) converted a man-up opportunity with 3:45 showing before Lindley and Sarro scored in the final 31 seconds of the quarter for a 5-1 lead.
Dylan Chaikin (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) and McNichol scored nearly three minutes apart to close the deficit to 5-3 with 5:54 showing in the second quarter.
Linsley answered McNichol's man-up goal with a man-up tally of his own, stretching the lead to 6-3 at the intermission.
After McNichol made it a 6-4 game with 8:15 to play in the third quarter, the Maroons reeled off four straight goals to take a 10-4 advantage into the final 15 minutes.
Will Kroppe (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing Area) found the back of the net for the first time this season with 10:43 to play before Roanoke finished the game with three straight tallies.
Kroppe added four caused turnovers and two ground balls.
Zack Bicho (Millstone, N.J./The Hun School of Princeton) won 10 of 18 faceoffs and picked up five ground balls.
The Green Terror returns to action at Haverford on Saturday. Game time is 3 p.m.
