WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel outscored Ohio Northern 4-0 in the fourth quarter to rally for an 11-8 non-conference men's lacrosse victory on Saturday.
Cameron Marous led the Polar Bears (3-1) with two goals and an assist.
Trailing 8-7 after Marous put Ohio Northern on top in the waning seconds of the third quarter, Jackson Reilly (Churchton, Md./Southern) ripped a shot 87 seconds into the fourth quarter to tie the game fifth time.
Bryce Brookhart (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron) scored in a flag-down situation with 5:31 on the game clock to put McDaniel in front, 9-8.
Just 1 minute, 6 seconds later, Brooks took advantage of another flag-down situation and buried a bounce shot for a two-goal advantage.
Marshall put the cap on the quarter, firing from long range and converting as time expired.
Marous opened the scoring with 8:46 to play in the first quarter before Shane Olson tallied with 3:00 on the clock for a 2-0 first-quarter lead.
Anothony Pavone netted Ohio Northern's second man-up goal and pushed the lead to 3-0 with 11:56 remaining in the second quarter.
Jackson Kratovil (Stevensville, Md./Kent Island) got McDaniel on the board with 9:15 showing before Marshall connected with Brooks for a man-up marker with 4:36 showing, closing the deficit to 3-2 at the break.
Marshall found Jared Payne (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) early in the third quarter to tie the game and start a flurry of 10 combined goals in the period. Brooks picked up a loose ball on a shot that sailed wide and put it right back for the Green Terror's first lead at the 11:45 mark.
Nicholas Groves started a run of three straight Polar Bear goals in a 4-minute, 11-second span that gave the guests a 6-4 edge.
Brooks and Marshall finished solo runs 21 seconds apart to even the game at 6-all with 5:07 remaining in the quarter.
Max Weese and Sam Mutz (Swarthmore, Pa./Strath Haven) traded goals nearly three minutes apart to keep the game tied with 1:29 to play in the third quarter.
Jake Schoenick (Port Republic, Md./St. Mary's Ryken) went 7-for-11 on faceoffs while Will Rund (Elkridge, Md./Howard) was 5-for-8. Cole Ostendarp (Baltimore, Md./Eastern Tech) led the defense with three caused turnovers and five ground balls.
McDaniel returns to action at home against Frostburg on Wednesday. Game time is 7 p.m.
