DANBURY, Conn. – Jakob Katzen (Wilmington, Del./Wilmington Friends), a sophomore on the McDaniel men's lacrosse team, has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III South Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Mar. 19-25.

It is his third honor in the last three days. On Monday, he was tabbed Centennial Conference (CC) Defensive Player of the Week before being named to the USILA Division III Team of the Week on Tuesday.

Katzen led the Green Terror (6-3, 1-0 CC) to a 7-3 win over Haverford in the CC opener on Saturday. He allowed just three goals while making 14 saves, including eight in the fourth quarter when the Fords pelted the defense with 20 shots. The effort keyed the first time McDaniel opened the CC schedule with a win since 2003.

For the season, Katzen has an 8.07 goals-against average and .572 save percentage.

McDaniel returns to action at No. 9 Dickinson on Wednesday. Game time is 7 p.m.
