WESTMINSTER, Md. – Ursinus outscored McDaniel 5-1 in the third quarter to notch a 10-7 victory in Centennial Conference (CC) men's lacrosse action on Friday.
Micah Brooks (Woolford, Md./Cambridge South Dorchester) led the Green Terror (4-7, 0-4 CC) with three goals.
Elliott Shevitz led the Bears (2-8, 1-3 CC), backstropping the defense with 22 saves in goal.
Tied at 4-all, Hakan Atillasoy finished a Peter DeSimone pass with 2:57 to play in the second quarter for a 5-4 edge at the intermission.
Evan Scott and Ian Desenberg finished solo runs in the first 1:28 of the third quarter to push the lead to 7-4 before DeSimone capped Ursinus' second 4-0 run of the game, returning the favor for Atillasoy with 8:10 showing.
After Brooks completed his hat trick with 6:30 on the clock, Atillasoy needed just four seconds to push the lead back to four.
Ian Desenberg finished the five-goal quarter with 2:17 remaining.
Sam Mutz (Swarthmore, Pa./Strath Haven) finished a quick feed from Carson Marshall (Brookeville, Md./Glenelg) with 10:43 to play in the fourth quarter before Marshall capped the scoring with 13 ticks remaining.
Brooks opened the game with an unassisted tally at the 9:51 mark before Lou Harrison and Bobby McClure combined for a 4-0 Bear run and 4-1 lead just 1:14 into the second period.
Marshall, Brooks and Mutz all finished solo runs to draw the game even with 5:06 to play in the quarter.
McDaniel returns to action at Franklin & Marshall on Wednesday. Game time is 4 p.m.
