ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Muhlenberg built a 13-3 lead through three quarters, defeating McDaniel 16-7 in Centennial Conference (CC) men's lacrosse action on Saturday.
Carson Marshall (Brookeville, Md./Glenelg) led the Green Terror (6-8, 1-5 CC) with two goals and three assists.
Nate Emrick led the Mules (10-2, 2-2 CC) with two goals and an assist.
Brandon Moyer found the back of the net just 1:42 into the game to start a three-goal flurry to start the contest.
Micah Brooks (Woolford, Md./Cambridge South Dorechester) finished a man-up goal from Marshall with 10:50 showing to close the margin to 3-1 before Emrick found Bobby McLoughlin the finished a solo run to make it a 5-1 game after one.
Sam Mutz (Swarthmore, Pa./Strath Haven) finished from Marshall just 1:43 into the second quarter to close the deficit to 5-2 but Scott Fayan responded midway through the quarter to start a four-goal run that made it 9-2 at the break.
Marshall finished a solo run 68 seconds into the third quarter but once against Muhlenberg responded with four straight goals to stretch the lead to 10 entering the final period.
Mutz bookended a Brooks man-up tally to close the deficit to 13-5 with 9:46 to play in the fourth quarter.
Jack Reilly and Dominick DiStefano scored two minutes apart to stretch the lead back to nine before Marshall and Zachary Cooper traded goals in the final 43 seconds.
McDaniel returns to action at home against Swarthmore on Saturday. Game time is 12 p.m.
