Speaks joins the Green Terror staff in 2011, working primarily with the defense.
For more than five years, Speaks has been active in developing youth lacrosse in the Atlanta area. He worked several lacrosse programs and trained hundreds of lacrosse players in private and group settings.
He is also a coach for Thunder Lacrosse, a club team based out of Marietta, Ga. Several of his players/students have been selected as High School All-Americans and have gone on to play for college programs such as Ohio State, Denison, The University of Massachusetts, Roanoke, Hampton-Sydney, Suwanee and The University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Speaks grew up in Fairfax, Va., and played for Tom Tufts at Robinson Secondary, where he was a two-time captain and was named a high school All-American as a senior.
Speaks started his collegiate career under Bill Gorrow at Anne Arundel Community College, where he was part of a Junior College National Championship and was named a second-team All-American.
From there, he went to Towson, where he played under Lacrosse Hall of Fame coach Tony Seaman as a three-year starter and as a captain his senior year.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts in business administration from Towson in 2002 and is currently working on his masters in exercise science at McDaniel.
