Muhlenberg downs McDaniel 2-0 in conference opener

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The two teams combined for 46 shots but it was Muhlenberg finding the back of the net twice in a 2-0 win over McDaniel in the Centennial Conference (CC) men's soccer opener for both teams on Saturday.

Zach Nibbelink (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) made seven saves for the Green Terror (1-3-1, 0-1 CC) while Ari Nutovits had seven stops at the other end.

Danny Way staked the Mules (5-0, 1-0 CC), scoring in the upper-left off a Steve Giannacio through ball into the box.

Jacob Joseph dribbled to the top of the box and then put the ball into the left side of the net with 11 seconds to play to set the final margin.

Muhlenberg finished with a 27-19 advantage in shots.

Shane McCracken (Marriottsville, Md./Liberty) led McDaniel with six shots.

The Green Terror returns to action at home against Hood on Wednesday. Game time is 4:30 p.m.
