McDaniel tallies twice in first nine minutes

WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel scored a pair of goals in the game's first 8:25 and kept Hood off the board the rest of the way for a 2-0 non-conference men's soccer victory on Wednesday.

Marrio Davis (Baltimore, Md./Friends School of Baltimore) recorded a goal and an assist to give the Green Terror (2-3-1) its first points in more than 256 minutes of game action.

Will Lane made four saves in goal for the Blazers (3-2-1), who were shut out for the second straight game.

Before 1:45 had elapsed in the contest, Davis played a ball from the right end line in front of the cage, where it bounced off the keeper and to Shane McCracken (Marriottsville, Md./Liberty), who collected the loose ball and tapped it just inside the far post.

Off a misplay by the Hood keeper in the ninth minute, Davis ripped a shot from the top of the box into the upper-left corner for a 2-0 lead.

Davis had a chance to make it 3-0 in the 55th minute but hit the post.

Chris Mahone looked to break up the shutout in the 84th minute but glanced it off the crossbar and over the cage.

McDaniel finished with an 18-10 advantage in shots while both teams had seven corners.

Zach Nibbelink (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) and Sean Best (Adamstown, Md./Tuscarora) split time in cage for the Green Terror, each making two saves.

McDaniel returns to action at Ursinus on Saturday. Game time is 6 p.m.
