WESTMINSTER, Md. – Johns Hopkins tallied in the 52nd minute and withstood a McDaniel offensive flurry in the waning minutes to register a 1-0 Centennial Conference (CC) men's soccer win on Wednesday.
Zach Nibbelink (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) made six saves for the Green Terror (5-10-1, 1-7 CC), who had four of its five second-half shots in the game's final 18 minutes.
Danny Reategui finished for the Blue Jays (6-7-2, 4-3-1 CC), finding the back of the net on a low shot from the left wing.
McDaniel's best opportunity to tie the game came n the final two minutes when Spencer Phillips (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) hit the corner of the far post with a floating shot from the right wing.
Nick Cerrone made three saves for Johns Hopkins, which finished with a 16-9 advantage in shots, including 11-5 in the decisive second half.
The Green Terror concludes the season at Gettysburg on Saturday. Game time is 4 p.m.
