McCracken named NSCAA Player of the Week
KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Shane McCracken (Marriottsville, Md./Liberty), a junior on the McDaniel men's soccer team, has been named the Division III Men's Disney Soccer/NSCAA Player of the Week for the week of Aug. 30-Sept. 2.
It marks the second honor of the day for McCracken, who was also named Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
It is the first time a Green Terror player has earned the national honor.
McCracken led McDaniel (2-0) with eight goals and an assist in a 2-0 start to the season. He tallied four goals as part of a 10-1 win over Southern Vermont on Friday before adding another four tallies in a 6-2 win over La Roche on Saturday. On Saturday, the junior also added his first career assist. It marked the first time in program history a player had recorded four or more goals in back-to-back games.
His eight goals and 17 points leads the conference and is the highest known total in all of Division III.
The Green Terror returns to action at home against Goucher on Tuesday. Game time is 4 p.m.
