Gomez wins three times to pace Green Terror

CARLISLE, Pa. - Three Dickinson swimmers won a pair of events to lead their team to a 122.5-76.5 victory over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) men's swimming action on Saturday.

Stephen Gomez (Charlottesville, Va./Albermarle) won three times for the Green Terror (0-5, 0-4 CC) to account for the team's three individual victories to go with a meet-ending win in the 200 freestyle relay.

The Red Devils (3-2, 2-0 CC) notched victories in the other seven events, including opening the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay behind the quartet of Tristan White, Ed Barnard, Zach Yocum and Doug Murray's time of 1:43.18.

Gomez won the first individual event with a time of 10:37.93 in the 1,000 freestyle before later touching first in the 100 butterfly (55.60) and 500 freestyle (5:07.88).

Chris Steinheimer (Monrovia, Md./Urbana), Jason Harder (Philadelphia, Pa./Pennington), Colin Donnelly (California, Pa./Leondardtown) and Erik Brennan (Sicklerville, N.J./Sterling) teamed for a victory in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:44.97.

Bernard added an individual win in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.87). Yocum was victorious in the 200 IM (2:09.82) while Murray touched first in the 100 backstroke (56.36).

The Green Terror returns to action at home against Franklin & Marshall on Friday. Meet time is 6 p.m.
