Green Terror wins first nine events

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - Stephen Gomez (Charlottesville, Va./Albermarle) won three times to lead McDaniel to a 115-45 victory at Elizabethtown in non-conference men's swimming action on Wednesday.

The Green Terror (1-6) won the first nine events of the meet en route to its first dual-meet victory of the season.

Shaun Martin notched the only individual victory for the Blue Jays (3-7), winning the 200 breaststroke in a time of 2:38.10.

Gomez was victorious in the 200 freestyle (1:53.88), 200 butterfly (2:05.34) and 500 freestyle (5:10.85).

Chris Steinheimer (Monrovia, Md./Urbana), Bryan Nuckles (Suffolk, Va./Nansemond-Suffolk Academy) and Morgan DeHart (Salisbury, Md./Wiciomico) were each double winners for McDaniel.

Nuckles recorded individual wins in the 50 free (22.90) and 100 free (51.38) while DeHart touched first in the 200 IM (2:10.64) and 200 backstroke (2:15.48).

Steinheimer was part of the the 400 medley relay with Chris Bosco (Vienna, Va./James Madison), Jason Harder (Philadelphia, Pa./Pennington) and Jono Leafblad (Garnee, Ill./Warren Twp.) that notched a time of 4:02.30 to win the opening event.

Steinheimer added a win in the 1,000 free with a time of 11:05.07.

The Green Terror returns to action in the regular-season finale at home against Washington (Md.) on Saturday, Feb. 6. Meet time is 1 p.m.
