Brooks debuts with three wins

EMMITTSBURG, Md. – Virginia Military Institute won eight of the 14 events to defeat McDaniel 172-87 in non-conference men's swimming action on Saturday.

Bradley Brooks (Newark, Del./Charter School of Wilmington) led the Green Terror (0-1), debuting with three individual wins in a meters pool.

Conor McMahon, Peyton Bailey, Jake Shafer and Christian Shaner all led the Keydets (1-4) with two wins apiece.

Brooks touched first in the 800 freestyle (8:34.96), 400 freestyle (4:09.17) and 200 IM (2:14.28).

Bryan Nuckles (Suffolk, Va./Nansemond-Suffolk Academy) added a pair of wins, touching first in the 50 and 100 frees. He took the 50 free in a time of 24.44 seconds and the 100 in a time of 55.02.

Brooks' classmate Keegan Duesterhaus (Spartanburg, S.C./Spartanburg Day) added a victory, touching first in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:44.02.

Stevie Hoyt (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) added a pair of second and a third individually. Hoyt was second in the 200 backstroke (2:26.77) and 100 butterfly (1:02.27) while placing third in the 100 backstroke (1:04.22).

The Green Terror opens the Centennial Conference schedule at Swarthmore on Saturday. Meet time is 2 p.m.
