CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Washington (Md.) won six of the 11 events to help defeat McDaniel 119-79 in Centennial Conference (CC) men's swimming action on Saturday.
Brad Brooks (Newark, Del./Charter School of Wilmington) won twice for the Green Terror (2-8, 0-6 CC) in a pair of pool-record times while Bryan Nuckles (Suffolk, Va./Nansemond-Suffolk Academy) also recorded a pair of victories.
Morgan Lee led the Shoremen (5-5, 1-5 CC) with three wins, including a pool record in the 100 butterfly with his time of 51.77.
Brooks record-setting outings came in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 9:34.46 – just 0.05 seconds off his program record in the event. He also set a new Washington pool record in the 500 with his time of 4:44.32.
Nuckles pair of wins came at the other end of the spectrum, winning the 50 (21.56) and 100 (57.31) freestyle events.
Keegan Duesterhaus (Spartanburg, S.C./Spartanburg) rounded out the McDaniel victories, touching first in the 200 IM (2:08.85).
Lee was also part of both relay victories for Washington. The 200 medley relay opened the meet with a victory in a time of 1:39.30 while the 200 free relay closed the meet with a time of 1:29.14.
Charles Logan joined Lee on the medley relay and also won the 100 backstroke (57.31) while Morgan joined Lee on the free relay and also individually won the 100 breaststroke (1:02.67).
Brooks was second in the 100 butterfly behind Lee's record-setting time, finishing with a time of 55.58 to rank eighth on the program's all-time top 10. It was the first time the freshman swam the event in collegiate competition.
Hoyt and Logan Linden (Millville, Del./Indian River) went 2-3 in the 200 freestyle with times of 1:50.03 and 2:00.38, respectively. The duo also went 2-3 in the 100 backstroke with times of 57.52 and 1:01.28, respectively.
Duesterhaus was second in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.26) while Leafblad was third in the 100 fly (58.76).
The Green Terror returns to action at the CC Championship hosted by Franklin & Marshall on Feb. 22-24.
