McDaniel notches first win
Green Terror downs Shepherd
SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Dan Hovorka (Storrs, Conn./E.O. Smith) won twice to lead McDaniel to a 5-4 victory over Shepherd in non-conference men's tennis action on Monday.
The Green Terror (1-4) took two of the three doubles matches before the Rams (1-13) split the six singles matches.
Hovorak teamed with Ben Faber (Wayne, Pa./Conestoga) for an 8-3 victory at first doubles before taking a 6-2, 6-1 decision at No. 2 singles.
Luke Schmidt (Red Lion, Pa.) also won twice for McDaniel, teaming with Aaron Waltemeyer (Towson, Md./Towson) for an 8-5 win at third doubles. Schmidt took his No. 6 singles match in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2.
Justin Ward rounded out the Green Terror victors, taking a three-set win at fourth singles, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.
The Green Terror returns to action at Gettysburg on Thursday. Match time is 3 p.m.
