McDaniel edges Stevenson
Green Terror takes second non-conference win of week
OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Dan Hovorka (Storrs, Conn./E.O. Smith) notched a pair of wins to lead McDaniel to a 5-4 victory over Stevenson in non-conference men's tennis action on Friday.
The Green Terror (2-5) won four of the six singles matches, which were competed in pro-set format, to overcome a 2-1 deficit after doubles play for its second win in the last three outings.
Shawn Kelly led the Mustangs (2-6) with a two-win day, teaming with Scott Woodburn for an 8-4 win at third doubles before winning 8-3 at fifth singles.
Hovorka teamed with Ben Faber (Wayne, Pa./Conestoga) for an 8-1 victory at first doubles before winning 8-1 at second singles. Faber added an 8-2 win at No. 1 singles.
Steve French (New Windsor, Md./Francis Scott Key) added an 8-6 win at No. 3 singles (8-6) and Justin Ward won at No. 4 singles (8-3).
McDaniel returns to action at Hood on Tuesday. Match time is 3 p.m.
