Shoremen sweep singles in straight sets for 8-1 win

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Aaron Ellison went 2-0 that included a 6-1, 6-0 win at third singles to lead Washington to an 8-1 victory over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) men's tennis action on Tuesday.

Ellison teamed with Kevin Papen to add an 8-1 victory for the Shoremen (11-4, 5-3 CC) at second doubles.

Ben Faber (Wayne, Pa./Conestoga) and Dan Hovorka (Storrs, Conn./E.O. Smith) notched the lone point for the Green Terror (4-10, 0-8 CC), teaming for a 9-7 win at No. 1 doubles by virtue of taking the tiebreaker, 8-6.

Hovorka and Papen played the highlight singles match of the day. Papen took the opening set 7-5 before completing the straight-set win 6-0 in the day's final match.

McDaniel concludes the season at Ursinus on Friday. Match time is 3:30 p.m.
