McDaniel closes campaign with 8-1 win over Stevenson

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Brian Kron (Upperco, Md./North Carroll) won twice, dropping just two games, to lead McDaniel to an 8-1 win over Stevenson in non-conference men's tennis action on Monday.

The Green Terror (7-11) swept its way through singles play to clinch the match before winning two of the three doubles matches.

Ted Cooke and Brian Bollman recorded the lone win for the Mustangs (5-12), taking No. 1 doubles 9-8 by winning the tiebreaker, 7-4.

Kron took No. 4 singles 6-1, 6-1 before partnering with Sam Morris (Takoma Park, Md.) for an 8-0 win at third doubles.

Justin Ward (Sykesville, Md./Century) and Steve French (New Windsor, Md./Francis Scott Key) added two-win afternoons for McDaniel.

The duo paired for an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles after each won their singles matches in straight sets. Ward was victorious in the No. 2 slot 6-0, 6-2 while French won 6-4, 6-3 in the third spot.

Ben Faber (Wayne, Pa./Conestoga), Chad Palman (Montgomery Village, Md./Gaithersburg) and Matthew Langsdale (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) rounded out the singles winners.

Faber won at No. 1 (6-3, 6-4) while Palman and Langsdale won at No. 5 (6-1, 7-5) and No. 6 (6-4, 6-3), respectively.
