Wawrzynski wins twice in victory

WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel swept doubles play en route to an 8-1 victory over Penn State-Brandywine in non-conference men's tennis action on Wednesday.

Jimmy Wawrzynski (Westminster, Md./Westminster) led the Green Terror (4-11) with two wins on the day. He and Quinn Burker (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) teamed for an 8-6 win at second doubles before Wawrzynski notched a 6-2, 6-0 win at fourth singles.

Wencesiao Lara led the Lions (4-4) with a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles.

Will Giles (LaVale, Md./Bishop Walsh) and Luke Shuck (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) also recorded 2-0 days. The duo partnered for an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles. Giles then won No. 1 singles 6-3, 6-2 while Shuck took second singles, 6-0, 6-1.

Tate Myers (East Berlin, Md./Bermudian Springs) and Justin Arter (Waldorf, Md./North Point) rounded out the day, teaming for an 8-4 win at third doubles. Myers then capped his 2-0 day with a 6-2, 7-5 win at fifth singles while Arter won by the same score at No. 6.

The Green Terror returns to action at home against Gettysburg on Tuesday. Match time is 3:30 p.m.
