Twenty-two McDaniel College student-athletes have been named to the 2012-13 Centennial Conference (CC) Winter Academic Honor Roll, announced recently.

Hernandez wins gold in shot put
Carlos Hernandez bettered his previous personal best by more than five inches to win the shot put and lead McDaniel at the 2013 Centennial Conference men’s indoor track and field championship. The Green Terror finished with 22 points as a team to place eighth.

Making the grade

Hernandez breaks mark in weight throw
Carlos Hernadez reset his own program record in the weight throw to lead McDaniel at the Susquehanna Open. Gary Smith added a trio of all-time top-10 showings to lead the Green Terror at the non-scoring meet.

Birden wins high jump
Jordan Birden won the high jump to lead McDaniel at the Hagerstown Invitational. The Green Terror recorded a total of seven top-three finishes at the non-scoring meet.

Hernandez finishes fifth in shot put
For the second week in a row, Carlos Hernandez improved his personal-best mark in the shot put, leading McDaniel at the Patriot Games hosted by George Mason. Hernandez improved his previous best by nearly 3 feet, 4 inches with a toss of 14.17 meters to finish fifth.

Carlos Hernandez recorded a pair of top-10 performances, including a program record in the weight throw to lead McDaniel at the Orange and Maroon Classic hosted by Susquehanna.

Jordan Birden, a sophomore, has been named the Centennial Conference Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for the week of Nov. 28-Dec. 2.

Jordan Birden won the high jump, clearing a program record-tying height of 1.90 meters to lead McDaniel to a seventh-place finish at the DuCharme Invitational.
