HAGERSTOWN, Md. – Chris Jones (Centreville, Va./Centreville) won his second collegiate race in as many weeks, leading McDaniel at the Hagerstown Invitational in men's indoor track and field action on Saturday.
The Green Terror recorded a pair of wins, seven top-three finishes and 13 Centennial Conference (CC)-qualifiers at the non-scoring meet.
Jones won the 800 meters with a CC-qualifying time of 2:02.12, which also ranks seventh all-time in program history.
Jordan Birden (Baltimore, Md./Cristo Rey Jesuit) added the other individual victory, clearing 1.84 meters in the high jump.
Carlos Hernandez (Derwood, Md./Magruder) finished second in the shot put but was the top collegiate finisher, throwing a distance of 12.66 meters to start a stack of four-straight finishers in the even – all with conference-qualifying marks.
Diego Weiner (Miami, Fla./Riverside Military Academy [Ga.]) was third with a toss of 12.47 meters, which places him ninth on the all-time list.
Colin LaPenta (Morristown, N.J./Morristown) was third in the 800 with a CC-qualifying time of 2:05.63.
Ben Munyan (Middletown, Md./St. John's College Prep) added a third-place showing in the pole vault, clearing a height of 2.90 meters to place seventh on the program's all-time.
Munyan added a second conference qualifier, tying for fourth with Arthur Williams (Baltimore, Md./Cristo Rey Jesuit) and Gary Smith with a height of 1.69 meters, which is also seventh on the program's all-time list.
Jones, LaPenta, Munyan and Peter Merkel (Ellicott City, Md./Homeschool) combined to finish third in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:41.29.
Williams also hit the CC mark in the 55 meters, finishing ninth with a time of 7.01 seconds.
Merkel was fifth in the mile with a CC-qualifying time of 4:46.78. Calvin Ball (Westminster, Md./Westminster) just missed the CC mark but established a new PR, finishing seventh in a time of 4:56.03.
The Green Terror returns to action at the Orange and Maroon Classic hosted by Susquehanna on Friday, Jan. 18.
