Gibson hits two ECAC marks, record

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Gavin Gibson (Newark, Del./Sanford) was part of a pair of ECAC-qualifying marks and established a new program record in the 800 to lead McDaniel at the 2017 Centennial Conference men's indoor track and field championship hosted by Ursinus on Saturday and Sunday.

Scoring:

  • The Green Terror finished ninth with 27 points. Johns Hopkins won the team title at the nine-team championship with 193.5 points, outdistancing second-place Haverford by 81.5 points.

Making a Point: The following athletes earned points at the meet:

  • The distance medley relay of Gavin Gibson, Michael Gallagher (Elko, Nev./Elko), Alex Panagakos (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) and Jim Heilman (Lutherville, Md./Baltimore Lutheran) finished sixth with a time of 10:29.32.
  • Nevin Stambaugh (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key) finished fourth in the heptathlon with 3995 points.
  • Evan Callahan (Boxborough, Mass./Acton-Boxborough Regional) finished sixth in the heptathlon with 3123 points.
  • Steven Morella (Washington, N.J./Voorhees) finished seventh in the 200 with a time of 23.98 seconds.
  • Michael Gallagher finished sixth in the 400 with a time of 52.94 seconds.
  • Gavin Gibson finished fourth in the 800 with a time of 1:57.49.
  • The 4x400-meter relay of Michael Gallagher, Gavin Gibson, Miky Kisi (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) and Alex Meias (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) finished sixth with a time of 3:37.32.
  • Taylor Wagner (Dunkirk, Md./Northern) finished seventh in the shot put with a throw of 13.25 meters.

Record Setter: The following athletes established a new program record at the meet:

  • Nevin Stambaugh set a new program record in the heptathlon with 3995 points.
  • Gavin Gibson set a new program record in the 800 with a time of 1:57.49.

A New Standard: The following athletes hit ECAC-qualifying marks at the meet:
